In our current age of growing skepticism and increased hostility towards Christianity, it is more needed than ever to be able to provide a reason and defence for one’s faith.

Throughout the Old Testament are pictures and pointers towards Jesus Christ. John outlines the purpose of the book of the Gospel of John in chapter 20:30-31 where he writes:

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”

As we move through a study of the book, we read through the testimony of the apostle John and see, and be challenged, by the compelling love of the personal Christ. In this sermon series, a personal question that is offered to be answered is ‘Why Should I Respond to the Love of Christ?’

Each aspect of the fruit of the Spirit, with a basis on the famous verses of Galatians 5, is explored with the Spirit’s guidance. Through this series we are encouraged to live a life reliant on the Spirit so that other’s may see Christ in us by the fruit we bear.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

In Hebrews chapter 11 we find the famous ‘Heroes of Faith’ passage of scripture. The men and women of the Bible that are described therein each exemplified what a life characterised by Faith may look like such that we may learn from their example with the strength and power of Christ.
